GT5 head-tracking Confirmed

Some exciting news for all of you planning to pick up Gran Turismo 5 now, as it has just been confirmed by Polyphony Digital that Head-Tracking via the PS Eye will be one of the main features in in the game.

As reported from Eurogamer, Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed the news himself, so we can definately say this feature will be a reality come release.

The way it will work is that the head-tracking feature will be restricted to the in-cockpit view within the game. The PS Eye hardware will then scan the position of your head and will adjust what you see in-game accordingly.

What this means kiddies is the head-tracking feature is restricted only to the in-cockpit view within GT5. Employing facial recognition techonogly, the PlayStation Eye scans the position of your head and adjusts the viewpoint in the cockpit accordingly, effectively replacing the use of the right analogue stick on the DualShock 3. Your display stops being a flat 2D representation of a 3D world and effectively becomes an interactive window into the game experience.

This means as you look around in the real world your driver in the cockpit will do the same providing and extremely interactive driving experience. Can we begin to imagine the possibilities when combine head-tracking with Sony's MoCo(Motion Control)tech? To get a good example or feel for what head-tracking is all about check out the video after the jump.
