I have to sum that up with one answer NO. We may have Next Gen systems out: Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, and the PS3. But the 360 has been out for a year and half and has not really come out with anything truly ground breaking. There is one title in the bunch that can consider Next Gen. But only in terms of graphics. That game you ask is Gears of War. This the first true Next gen game. Here are the reason: Graphics, Sound and presentation. The graphic are the best thing on any system up until now. The sound is truly rich and aromic. And presentation good enought for you to play till the sequel comes out. But is this game truly Next Gen? Yes and No. When I think Next Gen, the first thing that comes to mind is Graphics. Is it a leap from previous Generation? In the case of Gears of War it is a leap, but how far of a leap? Look at God of War 2 for PS2, in my opinion Gear of War is only a little better than God of War @ in the graphic department. It is not leap and bounds.

Now you tell me is Next Gen here yet? My answer is still no. There is not that much of a leap in graphics between God of War 2 and Gears of War. The most important fact is there is no difference in AI. I would think with these new powerful Next gen systems would be able to shine some life in the AI department. But from what I have played so far that is not the case. Next Gen is not truly going to be here till fall. In fall we will have a glimpse of the future of Next Gen, a small taste. But what has to be change for there to be a revolution in game play, graphic, and AI. Are there developers out there trying to push the limits? I will hope so it is a War(next Gen). Usually at war time we get to see the latest and best technology being deploy. I hope this will be the case for this war. The biggest difference would be that the only body count would be virtual.
I believe that the graphic envelope will be pushed, but we need to push everything that makes a game a great game, something memorable. And AI is the key. I think that a great leap in AI will be accomplish in games before they are made in robots. It only make sense. This is a time to see what can really be done. Is the Ps3 just smoke and mirrors? Is the 360 just a big online commuinty, or will the Wii just a fad? Only the developers have the choice and power to make a difference. We should pressure the gaming commuity to try to captivate us. I just do not want a shiny black box with the power of Zeus just sitting there looking good and not doing any thing for the good of the gaming world. I do not want cures, I want better AI and gameplay. I want better interactive graphics, and a richer online experinace. It can be done, its has been done before in evry generation of gaming. But it seems like it is taking forever to happen. Heck I want to see it NOW. please share your thoughts.
